Dato’ Dr. Nik is also the Chairman of Zaid Ibrahim & Co.
Dato’ Dr Nik is widely regarded as a leading legal expert in Islamic finance in the world. He was listed in the 2008 IFLR’s “Guide to the world’s leading Islamic finance lawyers”. Dato’ Dr. Nik advises clients in Malaysia and overseas on a broad scope of legal matters that involve Islamic finance, banking, offshore finance, debt restructuring, international, corporate and commercial law. He has also advised clients on debt and corporate restructuring transactions, and on the issuance of private debt securities including Islamic financial instruments, both domestic and international. He has been legal counsel for several mergers and acquisitions and advises generally on regulatory and compliance issues.
He was formerly the Acting Dean/Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. His credentials include:
- Member of the Central Bank of Malaysia’s Law Reform Committee on Islamic Banking and Finance in Malaysia
- Appointed by the Minister of Finance II (Malaysia) as a Member of the Financial Reporting Foundation (FRF)
- Member of the Islamic Religious Council of the Federal Territories of Malaysia (MAIWP)

Dato’ Dr. Nik has written several articles on corporate and financial issues, particularly on Islamic banking. Some of his published works include the following:

Experience
Megat is also a partner in Zaid Ibrahim & Co and heads the firm’s Islamic Banking and Finance Practice.
Megat has a wealth of industry experience and is an authority in Islamic Banking and Finance, as well as corporate legal and regulatory developments. He has advised institutional and corporate clients on Islamic financing and investment structures based on the application of Shariah principles. Megat has also advised domestic and international clients on the legal and regulatory framework of Islamic banking and finance, as well as matters relating to applicable Shariah standards for Islamic financial/investment transactions in Malaysia and abroad.
He was a lecturer at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia, prior to joining the firm. He continues to teach at the University as a guest lecturer.

Ahmad has vast experience in the banking, manufacturing and professional services industries. A member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Ahmad has been with:
- The Central Bank of Malaysia as a Bank Inspector/Internal Audit Officer
- A Japanese-Malaysian joint venture telecommunications company as a Group Accountant
- A British multinational corporation as the Finance and Administration Manager and Company Secretary
He has also been involved in the setting up a new subsidiary of a British multinational, the acquisition of a hotel in London, negotiations in Tokyo on setting up of a new subsidiary and the application for listing of a company on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
Ahmad also sits on the board of a number of companies both domestic and multinational and is a member of the board of trustees of a charitable foundation.

Dr Aida is one of the most highly qualified lawyers in Islamic finance in Malaysia. She is also widely acknowledged for her expertise in this field. In addition to being a Director with ZI Shariah Advisory Services Sdn Bhd, she is also a partner in Zaid Ibrahim & Co. In both areas, she works closely with ZICO’s Islamic Banking and Finance Practice.
Dr Aida is a Member of the Shariah Advisory Committee of Takaful Malaysia Berhad. She also sits on the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ Committee for the Review of the Contracts Act 1950 vis-à-vis Shariah Muamalat Principles.

Aida has published articles in the Malayan Law Journal, the Arab Law Quarterly and MIF Monthly.
